A hard-fought season in the Motomaster Ron Fellows Karting Championship saw Robert claim 3rd overall in the Rok Sr. Championship. Recording a win, a second, and a third in the race series he was consistently on the podium. He also had another victory during the year which was later taken away due to a questionable call in post-race technical scrutineering. Had that victory stood there was a chance that Robert could have been crowned Vice-Champion, or potentially Champion, in the series.
“The KGR kart enabled me to run at the front consistently. It was really a great year. One of the highlights was the first win in Mosport. It had rained, some parts of the track were wet, others dry. With 1 lap to go I was in P2, but I had perfected my line throughout the race. Going into turn 2, I was able to pull an over-under move that was probably the most challenging pass I had pulled off to date in my racing career. Ultimately that move led to the first victory in the series.”
