The penultimate Blue Marble Radical Cup North America event weekend at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) this past weekend brought high speeds and hot temperatures as the weather remained well above 100-degrees throughout the weekend. The heat didn’t faze RySpec Racing’s Robert Soroka as he scored a pair of third-place podium finishes at the renowned Austin, Texas facility made popular by Formula One.
Soroka, who sat in fourth in the Pro 1500 championship after round four in Toronto, has now set himself up for a run at a top-three finish in the championship points battle as a result of his efforts in Texas this past weekend. Along with his pair of podiums in the first and third wheel-to-wheel races of the weekend, Soroka also produced a fifth-place result for the Canadian team in race two alongside his teammate Austin Riley, claiming eighth in the Pro 1500 class for that race due to missing a good chunk of the race with an issue. Riley’s best finish of the weekend came in race one, rounding out the top-five while also earning a sixth-place result in race three.
“This round was a challenge for us for sure,” explains Team Owner Richard Yin. “The hot track, elevation change, and temperatures really challenged our drivers. Austin was hit with some car issues but drove well with what he had. Robert really powered through the 115-degree heat while on track and brought home a few podium results for our program. We will take it and keep working hard leading up to the season finale in less than two weeks.”
In two weeks, RySpec Racing will participate in one last race event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the finale of the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America 2023 season. Looking to close the season strong and build momentum towards their 2024 campaign, RySpec Racing is currently looking for drivers for events both north and south of the border in 2024.
